YAY! You're here!!!

I am a Registered Instructor for the Kids Can Sew® & Fashion Design Inc. sewing program.  Kids Can Sew® & Fashion Design Inc. is the original program for teaching kids to sew and is recognized as the #1 sewing program for kids.   This curriculum takes students through the basics of sewing and clothing construction including, learning how to operate a sewing machine, use various tools and equipment, using a pattern, and following pattern guidelines. The Kids Can Sew program has 4 years/levels of sewing classes that can take a student from basic sewing knowledge to the skills required to complete commercial sewing patterns and advanced sewing projects.  The program has taught over 1 million children worldwide in the course of 30 years.

MY approach

The Stitch School Studio is conveniently located off Houston Levee Rd in Cordova, Tennessee.  My studio is at my home location, in a cute little red brick house adjacent to my home. It's the perfect little place.  It's my happy place.  I've got 4 complete sewing stations and 2 large cutting tables; more than enough to  keep my students busy learning and creating.

All beginning students will go through the Kids Can Sew "YEAR ONE" student workbook and complete 8-10 projects as well as various holiday-themed crafts.

The 1st Year Student Pattern Packets teach students how to:

  • follow sewing written sewing terms & directions
  • how to press using an iron, determine pattern size, top stitch, thread elastic, how to thread and use the sewing machine, how to construct and complete a wearable garment.
  • use a paper pattern & cut out the fabric
  • And the following: make casings, hem, make a facing, pivot stitch, back-tack, make a slit, clip around curves, work from the fold line, measure from the straight of grain, use notches, pin, press, measure seam allowance, top stitch, use a tape measure, use a seam gauge and other equipment, chalk talk.
